I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Comparative Government currently working on a project examining the development of U.S. counterinsurgency theory between 1898-2008. My other work has looked at the Eurasianist movement in Russia, land reform in Georgia, and the spread of HIV throughout the former Soviet Union.  I also teach and consult. Other interests include international relations, religion and politics, the politics of higher education, theatre and literature, especially American. I hold an M.A. in Russian and East European
Studies from the University of Kansas, and a B.A. in Literature and Government from Claremont McKenna College.
